Tips for anyone who needs a website (part 1 of 4)

It's really not very hard to get a website these days. Sure, like anything, when you are starting at square one with no knowledge of how these things work, it can all seem very technical, and in reality it is. But there are so many resources available now for publishing content content online that getting a site for yourself is easier than it has ever been.

So I'm writing this four-part post to provide some tips on how to get your site up and running. These tips are informed by my six years of building website and also from teaching web design to hundreds of students when I was at Ohio University. It's also a shameless plug for you to hire me to set up your site for you, but if you read on you'll see that a lot of my tips don't involve me, and that's OK because I may not be the right solution for you, and there are so many free and easy ways to publish web content that you might not need to hire anyone at all.
